Mrs. Elizabeth Holcomb began her career at Brookland-Cayce in 1954 after teaching in North Carolina for 14 years. She taught business courses and was the advisor for the Bearcat business staff. She was at BC for 21 years,
retiring in 1975. She was "Mom" to many of her students and advised them when they did not feel free to confide in others. She had a keen sense of humor and enlivened every group with her positive attitude. She was best known, however, for caring for her students and her desire that they "believe in themselves". For that she will be truly missed. Mrs. Holcomb passed away shortly after receiving the honor at the Brookland-Cayce Educators' Hall of Fame event. She saw many old friends and past students, and she said the event was the "highlight of her life."
