AWARDS

May 2009


The Foundation will award college scholarships to a number of graduating BCHS seniors in May, through an application process conducted by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee with assistance from the BCHS Guidance Center.

The Foundation will award grants to selected BCHS teachers in May, so that they may better meet the educational needs of their students in the academic year 2009-2010. Grants are awarded based on merit and available funds.

EDUCATOR HALL OF FAME

New 2010 Members
At the February 4, 2010 Gala, the Foundation inducted Ms. Beverly Jackson, Ms. Cindy Kessler, and Mr. Drue Spigner as members of the Educator Hall of Fame.

Ms. Jackson taught in the English Department at Brookland-Cayce from 1974 to 1995.   More

Ms. Kessler taught Physical Education at Brookland-Cayce for thirty years, retiring in 2000.   More

Mr. Spigner began his career as Custodian of the newly opened Brookland-Cayce High School in 1931, and retired as Buildings and Maintenance Supervisor in 1960.   More

Board of Directors Changes,
Effective July 1, 2009 		The Board of Directors welcomes newly elected members, Dee Dee Chewning, Bobbie Hartley, and Jerod Summer.

Current Board members Mary Sharpe, Ann Bolen, and Barbara Jeffcoat were re-elected for new terms.

The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the service of John Bettis, Dr. Ben Levinson, Steve Nivens, and Bryant Shaffer who have completed their terms as Members of the Board of Directors.

The BCHS Education Foundation presented College Scholarships to 55 graduating seniors at the May 22 BCHS Awards Day.    More

The BCHS Education Foundation presented 23 Teacher Grants at the Teacher Appreciation Reception on June 3, for projects in the upcoming 2009-2010 academic year.    More

The BCHS Education Foundation presented Ms. Bonnie Tucker with a cash award for being chosen the 2009-2010 BCHS Teacher of the Year by vote of her fellow teachers.

EDUCATOR HALL OF FAME
The Educator Hall of Fame was established by the Foundation to honor education professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the education of Brookland-Cayce High School students.   More

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Foundation serves businesses and individuals who wish to present a scholarship to a graduating senior at Brookland-Cayce High School by administering funds, selecting recipients, and presenting awards.    More

WINGMAN PROGRAMS
The Wingman Program and the Junior Wingman Program are mentoring programs for Brookland-Cayce High School students who need extra support in their lives.   More

TEACHER GRANTS & RECOGNITION
The Foundation awards Grants to teachers so that they may better meet the educational needs of their students, and provides an annual Teacher Recognition Breakfast to honor all BCHS faculty members.   More

NEWSLETTER & WEBSITE
The Foundation publishes an annual Newsletter each Fall and maintains this website to keep its members and friends informed of its programs and activities.
